National Tidy Towns awards
BIG congratulations to Bantry
"BIG congratulations to Bantry on obtaining a Silver Medal at the National Tidy Towns awards this year. A huge effort made by the town has netted a great result. As the saying goes though - " a lot done and a lot to do" so the committee have a plan of action in place for the next 12 months to help continue the good work and make Bantry better than ever! The biggest bugbear this year? Cigarette butts! The Committee is still waiting to hear how Bantry fared in the Cork County Council Anti Litter Challenge. They were in second place after the second round and the final results will be announced this coming Thursday, 8th September. After both the first and second round of judging the amount of cigarette butts on the pavements in Bantry was commented upon. Its going to take a collective effort by the smokers of Bantry and the pub owners to get on top of this one - so how do we get the message across?"
