Dunmanway - Local News
Dunmanway is situated right in the centre of West Cork, further inland than many of the towns in the area. It is well known for many reasons, including the famous sporting and political figure Sam Maguire, after whom the all Ireland GAA football trophy is named. The town features a striking square, one of the center-pieces of which is also the famous statue of Sam Maguire. Dunmanway won the coveted Tidy Towns contest in 1982. The beautiful Chapel Lake is also situated close by.
Dunmanway is very popular among sporting events organizers and enthusiasts, having recently hosted the Munster 100 motorcycle race ( August 2010 ), and the Irish road bowling championships
( July 2011 ).
The Grapevine is delivered into Dunmanway each month, and is delighted to receive updates and community news from the Dunmanway area for publication in the magazine.
