An Evening of Song
St Brendan’s church
Two local singers are staging a concert in Bantry next month. Bridget Nolan, who comes from Allihies, and Bryan Husband, who has recently moved to Dromore, are presenting an ‘Evening of Song’ at St Brendan’s church. The pair gave a similar concert in August as part of the Allihies Music Festival – a concert which sold out, ‘standing room only’!
The date for your diary is Friday 4 th November, at 7.30, and as the concert comprises repertoire covering Irish melodies, classical favourites and numbers from Musicals, it promises to present ‘something for everyone’!
Bridget grew up in County Carlow, but spent a lot of her childhood on the Beara Peninsula, where her mother originated. She has toured extensively all over the world with ‘Rhythm of the Dance’, and has played in many musicals and operas in Ireland. This concert will be one of her last before making the move to London to extend her career there.
Bryan has also spent much of his career abroad – he spent many years singing in continental opera houses, as well as many appearances in London, and on tv and radio. He now spends his working life performing, adjudicating at Music Festivals around the world, examining for Trinity Music Examining Board, and teaching in London. He is soon to begin holding singing workshops in and around the West Cork area. He also works as a ski instructor – if one can refer to this as work!
This ‘Evening of Song’ promises to be an exciting, entertaining occasion, with some surprises. Be sure not to miss this opportunity to see and hear two accomplished local performers in a rare appearance ‘at home’! Tickets are available on the night at the door, and cost €12.
